A night with Narrabri’s international sports stars will raise awareness and funds for the Country Education Foundation of the Namoi.

Olympians Laura Gourley and Shannan Davey as well as international cyclist Lachie Cameron will be the guests-of-honour at the event to bolster an organisation which has provided financial support to students to pursue their higher education aspirations for almost 21 years.

Canapés, a seated dinner, dessert bar and entertainment are on offer as part of the celebration, with the international athletes speaking informally individually at various parts of the evening.

Country Education Foundation of the Namoi chair Cara Stoltenberg said the organisation was thrilled to host its first major fundraising

event since COVID. The event is being held on Saturday, November 30.

“Everyone really got behind our Olympians,” Ms Stoltenberg said.

She said it was important that support continued as they continue to chase their goals in their respective sports.

Chasing goals is familiar for the Country Education Foundation of the Namoi which plays a crucial role in ensuring students can pursue their own education goals. Students speak glowingly about the support from the organisation.

“Without CEF’s assistance, I wouldn’t be able to enjoy college or university life as much as I do, as I would have to work significantly more days to meet the financial demands of my cost of living,” one grant recipient said.

“The positive impact of CEF’s contribution extends beyond the immediate financial relief, enhancing my overall college experience and enabling me to take full advantage of the opportunities available to me,” another recipient said.

“CEF funds have significantly taken the pressure off my parents in regards to my accommodation at college. I am very grateful for the support, as it allows me to fully commit to my studies and training without too much worry,” said another.

Tickets to the event, being held at The Exchange Narrabri, are $140 and include a three-course dinner. Tickets can be purchased through 123tix.com.au

Ticket sales will close at 12pm on Tuesday.
