Blue Boars name men’s coaches

Craig Gleeson and Nathan Nott are back in charge for another season at the Narrabri Blue Boars, with the 2024 Central North first grade premiership-winning coach Gleeson going around again and Nott resuming his role as the second grade coach.

Club president Daniel Kahl told The Courier that he and the committee were pleased with those two appointments, but declared that they were on the hunt for a coach for the back-to-back premiership-winning women’s team.

The Blue Boars’ 2024 women’s coach Mitch Creighton stepped down after their grand final win in August, telling The Courier that plans to move away from Narrabri meant that he had to vacate the position.

Gleeson and Nott were both first-year coaches in 2024 and both men exceeded expectations as they both guided their teams to the finals series of their respective divisions.

Gleeson managed to coach the first XV to their first home grand final win and appearance since 2014.

“The club is very happy to reappoint Craig for another year,” Kahl said.

“2024 was a really successful season, and the playing group really benefited from his man management and his style of leadership.

“We’re looking forward to seeing that continue as the squad looks to defend the title, but more importantly continues to develop as a group.

“The club is also happy to reappoint Nathan to the reserve grade job.

“It’s probably one of the harder jobs in the club, and Nathan did that really admirably last season.

“From a playing group culture point of view, that job is really important, and Notty did that really well.”

“We don’t have a women’s coach as of yet, so we’ve began recruiting.”
