Paul and Leonie Welchman’s Ugoa Street home has been named as the winner of The Courier-Narrabri Lions Christmas Lights competition.
The Welchman family’s display was first in a competitive field of entries. The Welchmans have been decorating their Ugoa Street for many years and were pleasantly surprised to be nominated.
The family wins a $100 cash prize, provided by the Lions Club of Narrabri.
Lions president Tom Bennett said the judging process was difficult and was narrowed down to four homes.
For the winner, it was the addition of the nativity scene which impressed the judges.
Mr Bennett praised the Narrabri community on its fantastic displays.
The community’s Christmas lights display this year is bigger, brighter and more colourful than ever.
Many homeowners have again embraced the Christmas spirit and added to the town’s festive atmosphere.
This year, voting for People’s Choice was conducted on The Courier’s Facebook page. 61 Hinds Street was judged the winner of the People’s Choice for the spectacular display and wins a $100 Why Leave Town gift card, provided by The Courier.
A tour of Narrabri’s streets reveals that this year there are many fantastic Christmas lighting displays.
“A drive around town in the evening shows how many residents have embraced the Christmas spirit this year. People put their heart and soul into their home decorations and are clearly proud to share the Christmas spirit with the community,” said The Courier’s editor Dylan Smith.
