With the hot, humid weather of late, if you’re looking for some reprieve with the extreme opposite you could go to Yakutsk, Russia. It is a city of around 300,000 inhabitants and is claimed to be the coldest city in the world. Known to be -38oC, it is located about 450km south of the Arctic circle and has a thriving mining industry.
