Several Narrabri residents report increased backyard snake activity in the recent warmer weather. Snakes are part of our everyday environment, but always need to be treated with great respect as any snake bite is dangerous, of course. Australia must be relatively snake-bite free compared to some other places. Apparently some 7000 to 8000 people are bitten by venomous snakes in the US each year, according to The Economist newspaper.
