The Australian Labor Party has announced the endorsement of Nathan Fell as its candidate for Parkes in the May federal election.

“As a Broken Hill local who has spent his professional career working in the mining sector, Nathan understands the unique challenges facing communities across rural and regional NSW,” the party’s announcement read.

Mr Fell has lived in the electorate of Parkes for most of his life and is passionate about supporting rural communities to access the healthcare, education, and opportunities that they deserve.

He serves on the Barrier Industrial Council, Landcare Broken Hill Executive Committee, and is a Mining and Energy Union delegate to the Trades Trust Hall.

Mr Fell has a proven track record of serving his community, and believes in a fair go for all Australians, the ALP’s announcement read.

“Nathan has a deep commitment to the Parkes electorate, and is perfectly positioned to understand the complex challenges facing rural and regional communities across the electorate,” Labor NSW Senator Deborah O’Neill said.

“Nathan would be an extraordinary advocate for Parkes in the federal parliament.”

Mr Fell said Labor has delivered tax cuts for every Australian taxpayer, cheaper medicines, and cheaper childcare.

“Labor is the only party that will deliver real support for rural and regional communities,” he said.

“Parkes has been built on the strength of our mining and agricultural sectors.

“I am proud to work in the mining industry, and it is vital that we support these sectors to ensure that workers can live secure, dignified lives whilst contributing to our nation’s economy.”

Mr Fell criticised the Coalition as wanting to raise taxes and failing to support businesses like the embattled regional airline Rex.

“There is more work to do, and I am determined to help forge a positive future with the people of Parkes,” he said.

“Parkes needs a strong voice in Parliament. I will stand up for our community, and fight to deliver Parkes the healthcare, education and vital services that we deserve.”
