Four benches are being installed in the lawn cemetery as part of a joint Narrabri Lions Auxiliary and Narrabri Lions Club project.
The clubs have collaborated with Narrabri Shire Council, and have received funding support from Santos to ensure the project goes ahead.
The new benches are an initiative of the Lions Auxiliary (formerly the Lionesses club), with the Lions Club installing foundations ready for the seating to be installed.
“We hope that this is the start of something bigger,” Lions Auxiliary secretary Kerrie Haire said, indicating that there is space and a need for more seating at the cemetery.
Mrs Haire, and her husband Vince who is a long-standing member of the Lions Club, noticed Lions seating at the Moree cemetery.
With no seating available at the lawn cemetery, in typical Lions fashion a need has turned into a reality, with people soon able to sit, reflect and remember their loved ones.
“This has been a very big Lions project,” Mrs Haire said.
A further report will be included in The Courier once the seating component of the project has been completed.
