The Narrabri police command has welcomed its newest recruit, Probationary Constable Lachlan Tobler.

Pro Cons Tobler is among the newest police officers to join the NSW Police Force and is one of three new officers in the Oxley Police District fresh out of the academy. Narrabri, Gunnedah and Tamworth have each welcomed a new recruit.

Originally from Brisbane, Pro Cons Tobler described Narrabri as a nice town which he had found to be welcoming so far. After making a switch from working in Queensland Rail to police training,

Pro Cons Tobler has expressed a desire to get to know rural communities.

“I always wanted to be a cop in a rural town,” he said.

Rural areas including Narrabri and Armidale were among Pro Cons Tobler’s preferred locations when graduating from the force.

Pro Cons Tobler was welcomed to Narrabri by the local sector’s Officer-in-Charge Chief Inspector Robert Dunn, Oxley Police District Commander Superintendent David Cooper and Narrabri Shire mayor Darrell Tiemens.

“It means a lot to wear this uniform,” Supt Cooper told Pro Cons Tobler during The Courier’s visit to Narrabri Police Station.

“Working in the country is special.”

Chief Insp Dunn echoed similar sentiments about the important role police officers play in local communities.

“We’re always pleased to welcome new graduates to the police force,” Chief Insp Dunn said.

“Probationary Constable Tobler is settling well into our community.

“We know Narrabri Shire is full of wonderful people who will welcome Probationary Constable Tobler. We hope he enjoys his time here in
Narrabri.”
