North West Plains Polocrosse named its four teams to travel to the Bungendore Showgrounds for Polocrosse Association of NSW’s 2025 Zone Championships event last Sunday, but the event has since been cancelled.
Lake George Polocrosse Club were the hosts of the event this year, which was scheduled to be held this Saturday and Sunday, but the club announced on Monday night that it had been postponed.
“Due to the significant amount of rain our grounds have received, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the NSW Zone Championships,” a club statement advised.
“The safety of our players and horses is our top priority, and the current weather conditions does not allow us to proceed as planned.
“We appreciate everyone’s understanding and patience. We will announce a new date once confirmed.”
However, a new date was unable to be chosen and the event has since been cancelled.
North West Plains had named four teams to travel to compete at the Zone Champs. The 21 players hailed from the three Narrabri Shire clubs, with 16 from Narrabri Polocrosse Club, three from Cubbaroo Polocrosse Club and two from Galloping Gully Polocrosse Club.
The teams named were as follows:
Sub-juniors – Archer Kong (Narrabri), Perrin Kong (Narrabri), Ava Hunt (Narrabri).
Juniors:
Skye Manning (Narrabri), Halle Thompson (Narrabri), Edwina Keft (Cubbaroo), Oscar Thompson (Narrabri), Kaitlin Schwager (Narrabri), Cooper Kong (Narrabri).
Intermediates:
Ella Hunt (Narrabri), Brittney Schwager (Narrabri), Pippa Cullen (Narrabri), Billy Brodigan (Cubbaroo), Olivia Wilson (Cubbaroo), Rosie Ross (Narrabri).
Open mixed:
Makaya Elford (Narrabri), Jessie Ross (Narrabri), Daisy Duncan (Gully), Harry Giffen (Narrabri), Max Hunter (Gully), Trent Morimer (Narrabri).
