Events postponed due to wet weather, floods

Events to be held in the region last weekend and this weekend have been postponed as a result of weather conditions.

The Eulah Creek campoven cook-off and vintage machinery day, due to be held last Saturday and Sunday, have been delayed until September 20 and 21 due to wet weather late last week.

“Due to soggy grounds and more rain on the way, we have decided to postpone this weekend’s events,” organisers said when announcing the change of date for the Eulah Creek festivities.

“While we’re disappointed to delay, we’re looking forward to an even bigger and better weekend in September.”

The weekend’s Rotary markets were also cancelled as a result of the wet conditions.

Whitehaven Coal’s 2025 NSW Community Open Day, due to be held at the Boggabri Showground this weekend, has been postponed to August 30 due to flooding experienced across the North West this week.

“Recent flooding around our region has not only affected our employees and many others in the community, but it has severely impacted ground conditions at the showground, as well as access to our mine sites,” said Whitehaven’s general manager community engagement, Darren Swain.

“Our priority is to ensure a safe, positive and enjoyable experience for everyone involved, and therefore we will be rescheduling the event to the end of the month, which will allow us to deliver the best possible day for the community,” Mr Swain said.

“We appreciate your understanding, and we encourage everyone in affected areas to stay safe and keep up to date with local conditions.”

Mr Swain said Whitehaven’s rescheduled event will have a jam-packed schedule including amusement rides, jumping castles, pony rides and live entertainment.
