A woman in the UK, Daisy Taylor, who celebrated her 105th birthday last month said stretching and having fun and staying active has helped her longevity. After leaving school at 14 she had several jobs before marrying and having three children and loved to travel, dance and attend theatre shows. She moved from her home into a care home in 2002 and does weekly yoga and dance classes, on top of doing stretches every morning. She thinks yoga has improved her mind, quipping she has gotten ‘brainier’ in her older age. Daisy said she “doesn’t like sitting in the chair for too long and I like having some fresh air. I love talking to people, I like the little things, and I feel happy keeping busy,” she said. “I used to do yoga on the floor, on the carpet, but I mainly do it in my chair now. I like having fresh air. I do crafts and paint too. I love people, and I like living longer because I will see so many nice things.” The care home team threw her a birthday party, which she said she didn’t want to end.
