Cybercrime Squad detectives have charged a man for allegedly using cryptocurrency to buy child abuse material online under Strike Force Angle.
Strike Force Angle is an ongoing investigation by State Crime Command’s Cybercrime Squad into alleged offenders using cryptocurrency to access or distribute child abuse material
online.
On Wednesday, May 14, 2025, strike force detectives executed two search warrants in Boggabri and Calala.
During the warrants, police seized a PC and mobile phone, which were forensically examined and determined to have been accessing child abuse material.
It will be further alleged that international law enforcement provided evidence of a 21-year-old man making three cryptocurrency transactions on a child abuse material website.
About 9am on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, strike force detectives attended Tamworth Police Station, where they arrested a 21-year-old man.
The man was charged with three counts of use carriage etc to access child abuse material and was granted conditional bail to appear in Tamworth Local Court on Monday, September 1, 2025.
