The Country Universities Centre North West has reached an inspiring milestone—supporting 700 students from the North West to access, succeed in, and complete higher while staying connected to the region they call home.
Kim Bange, who is studying Agricultural Technology and Management remotely through the University of Southern Queensland, has become the centre’s 700th student.
This milestone is more than a number, the CUC says.
“Every one of these 700 students represents a story of aspiration, determination, and the power of community support,” said Letitia Cross, chair of CUC North West.
“Their success is not only their own—it strengthens our local industries, builds our workforce, and shapes a more vibrant future for the North West.”
The CUC North West believes that when local potential is nurtured, the whole region thrives. By removing barriers like cost, distance, and isolation, while connecting students to local career pathways, the CUC makes higher education more accessible and more meaningful for the region.
Blending real-world experience with formal study, CUC North West ensures students are job-ready, confident, well-connected and wanting to work in regionally. From skill development, academic guidance and mentoring, to work placements and industry connections, the centre provides the framework students need to thrive.
“This creates a ripple effect which reaches far beyond the classroom—driving sustainable economic growth and resilience by growing our own workforce in the region where we need it,” Letitia said.
