Earlier this month, Japan commemorated the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, which occurred on August 6, 1945, killing up to 90,000 people. Japan’s national broadcaster, NHK, reported there are now less than 100,000 atomic bomb survivors (known in Japanese as hibakusha) alive today.
