This week has marked the end of an era for the long-running Australian television soap series Home and Away, with the departure of long-running character Irene Roberts in the show’s 38th season. Portrayed by Lynne McGranger, the character was first introduced to Australians in 1991 (then portrayed by Jacqy Phillips). McGranger joined the cast in 1993 and is now the longest-serving female actor in an Australian drama TV series. For her efforts, McGranger was awarded the coveted Gold Logie at the recent awards ceremony.
