Kevin Baguley is the Narrabri Bowling Club’s major singles champion for the 2025/26 season following an entertaining final against Tony Redman at the John McNamara Owen Campey Green on Saturday.

Baguley led for all but three ends in what was a close contest from start to finish to claim his 11th club singles crown, 35 years on from his first when he defeated Graham Spence back in 1990.

It was his first appearance in the decider since 2022 when he claimed his 10th title with a 31-30 victory over Norm Walford in a 36-end thriller.

Redman struck first on Saturday as he scored a two on the first end to establish an early lead before Baguley hit back with three shots across the next two ends to go ahead by one.

The two finalists then went shot-for-shot across the next six ends as Baguley led six shots to five going into the 10th, and the first three of the contest on that end saw him open up a four-shot lead.

Redman then claimed the next three ends to tie the game up at 9-all after 13, and the match continued to entertain as Baguley led 15 shots to 14 after 18 ends of play.

The champion then turned on the burners as he won five of the next six ends to go in front 23 shots to 15 in the first-to-25 contest, but Redman refused to go down without a fight as he scored two shots on the 25th end to reduce his deficit to six. However, Baguley then registered his two match-winning shots on the 26th end to prevail 25 shots to 17.
