Nosh Narrabri has cemented its place as the region’s premier food festival and as a signature event of the district following a successful weekend of festivities.
The Saturday festival day returned with a bang, showcasing delicious food and produce as well as the addition of workshops, which were a hit with the gathering.
The much-loved Nosh Barbecue Cook-off returned, this year as the All Stars edition, featuring previous cook-off champions. Will Childs and Dylan Rosier, Jess Craig and Georgie Kahl, Sam and Cody Huff, and Scott Purcell and Todd Farrer battled it out to claim bragging rights as the All Stars champion.
Katrina White, mayor Darrell Tiemens and guest-of-honour Gary Mehigan officiated as judges.
In typical cook-off fashion, it came right down to the wire, however, it was Will Childs and Dylan Rosier who claimed the silverware.
A new addition to the afternoon festivities was a mixologist competition, with the winning drink to be featured as the cocktail of the month at the Tourist Hotel.
Seb and Bianca Egan wowed the judges with their ‘Specs on the Beach’ creation and were named as the winners.
Following the Saturday festivities, the much-loved Nosh Long Lunch was staged along the riverbank on Sunday to rave reviews.
The Italian-inspired lunch had been beautifully decorated along with delicious food and beverages served up to the sold-out event attended by more than 400 people.
Prior to the official start of the long lunch celebrations, Nosh president Angie Jones presented a thank you to long-serving committee member and former president Kate Kahl.
Angie thanked the committee, community and sponsors for making Nosh possible.
Sheena Martin, representing the major sponsor of Nosh, Port of Newcastle, also addressed the long lunch gathering before the attendees were seated ready to enjoy their three-course Italian feast.
