Narrabri Netball Association’s 2025 season finals series will begin at the Bev Burrows Courts this weekend, with semi-final matches to be played in all five divisions.
The finals series this year will be contested across two weeks, with semi-finals on Saturday to see the teams ranked first play against teams ranked fourth, and the teams ranked second play against the teams ranked third.
The B-grade competition is the exception to that format, given it is a three-team division in which the top-ranked team has gone straight through to the decider and the other two teams will meet in a preliminary final.
Grand final day will then be held on Saturday, September 13.
The last round of the 2025 regular season on Saturday gave many sides a chance to battle to improve their final ladder positions.
The senior A-grade minor premiership went right down to the wire and it was Namoi Mii Mii Memorial that got the job done as they defeated Narrabri Pharmacy Ferns 54-25 to finish on top.
For and against difference got them over the line in the end after Tourist Tornadoes downed The Grubs 61-38 to end up level on eight competition points with Mii Mii Memorial, but the Tornadoes were forced to settle for second.
The Grubs and the Ferns finished ranked third and fourth, respectively, meaning that the semi-finals will see Mii Mii Memorial challenge the Ferns while the Tornadoes meet The Grubs.
The B-grade division game on Saturday was a battle for the minor premiership as Hot Shots and Goal Diggers entered the day locked on four points, with the Boggy Roos sitting out with the bye on no points. Hot Shots won that clash 29-22.
The C-grade mixed 13-16-years competition also had a thrilling finale to the regular season on Saturday as Wee Waa Weaponz and Wee Waa Mavericks went head-to-head in the final round.
The Mavericks had already wrapped up the minor premiership as they were two wins clear at the top, but the Weaponz finished strongest as they downed the Mavericks 36-28 to take the momentum into the finals series.
The other match on Saturday saw Gyattastic outscore Sapphires 43-5.
The semi-finals will see the Mavericks meet Sapphires and the Weapons take on Gyattastic.
The junior mixed 11-13-years competition was taken out comfortably by Wee Waa’s Ag Econ Thunderbirds, who lined up for two matches on Saturday in a super round to wrap up the regular season. They drew 8-all against Giants before defeating Swifts 8-3 to end the regular season with 21 of a possible 24 competition points following 10 wins, a draw and a loss.
The Vast Diesel Services Firebirds were second with 12 points as the fellow Wee Waa outfit won 18-2 against Lighting and then sat out with a bye in the second set of games.
The other game saw Giants down Lightning 11-6 to leapfrog the Swifts to claim third place as Swifts ended up fourth and Lightning finished fifth.
The semi-final match-ups in that division this Saturday will see the Thunderbirds line up against the Swifts while the Firebirds go head-
to-head with the Giants.
The junior mixed under-9/10 competition was also taken out by a Wee Waa team after the Hutcheon and Pearce Swifts beat fellow minor premiership hopefuls Rubies and Diamonds on Saturday.
They outscored Rubies 9-6 and Diamonds 7-6 to end the regular season with 20 points, edging out Rubies on 17 and Diamonds on 16.
The other super round matches saw AgnVET Rural Vixens go down 4-2 against Diamonds and 9-2 against Rubies, and they will now take on their Wee Waa clubmates in one of the two semi-finals this Saturday.
Rubies and Diamonds will meet in the other semi-final.
