The beloved Narrabri West institution Westlands has reopened, much to the delight of the local community.
After considerable investment and upgrades, new owners Brett and Jodie Clayton reopened the Goobar Street business in August.
Westlands proudly offers a range of delicious take-away food options as well as coffee, bread, milk and groceries.
The refurbishment has been a labour of love for the Narrabri couple who started renovations in March this year.
While initially on their radar to purchase the business, family sporting commitments delayed their original intentions.
“We’re proudly Westies,” Jodie Clayton said about purchasing and reopening the business.
“We wanted to see it open again and to have that service provided to the community.”
Proudly boasting four staff, Brett and Jodie also operate the business with the assistance of their daughters Ruby, Indi and Maizee. It’s a family business at heart.
When officially opening the doors to Westlands, the community responded with instant support and enthusiasm.
“The reaction from the community was overwhelming,” Jodie said. “Our first day was insane. We didn’t stop all day.”
Jodie recalls at one point having 20 burgers in the queue to be made in addition to other takeaway food.
“The days following have also been busy,” Jodie said. “A massive thank you to the community for supporting us.”
Jodie said support came from across the entire town, with people eager to see the offering at the new-look Westlands.
As the business becomes more established, Jodie and Brett hope to add more items and will possibly look at lunch specials and meal deals.
“We’re finding our feet to begin with,” Jodie said.
The business has been initially trading Monday to Friday 6am to 5.30pm and Saturday 8am to 2pm.
Jodie said they make look at opening slightly later on a Thursday and Friday, and that the hours may evolve as they find what works best for the business.
“It may vary until we find out what works,” Jodie said.
The range of takeaway food available is sure to suit a variety of tastes.
Popular items so far include the hamburgers, hot dogs, bacon and egg burgers, and chicken and chip burgers just to name a few.
Caffeine needs are sorted, with Westlands providing Seven Miles Tazzina coffees.
Watson’s Kitchen and Dubbo bread is also on offer as well as fresh sandwiches on weekdays, cakes and slices, and soft drinks, including the much-loved Back ‘O’ Bourke drinks.
Be sure to experience the new-look Westlands for yourself, located at 23 Goobar Street. Take-away phone orders are also available by phoning 0493 302 362.
