Narrabri Shire Council received an update at last week’s meeting on ongoing flood recovery works across the shire’s road network following the 2022 and 2025 declared flood events.

All emergency and immediate restoration works have been completed, with the focus now on the Restore Essential Public Asset category repairs, heavy patching, and environmental studies for priority structures.

The works relating to the 2022 flood events totals more than $8 million.

A final claim has been submitted to Transport for NSW for priority unsealed works while works across other categories have been approved by the government.

All works within the unfinished categories is progressing on schedule and expected to be completed within the designated timeframe.

Heavy patching was completed in October on Bald Hill Road, Yarrie Lake Road, Old Pilliga Road and Pilliga Road, with further works scheduled in November across key regional and local routes.

Environmental studies are also progressing for three approved floodway replacements.

Council is awaiting final approvals for the 2025 flood event. Figures tabled at last week’s meeting show that council is seeking more than $9 million for works from the most recent flood event.

Works on priority structures has been approved while the scope of the remainder of works has been submitted to Transport for NSW.
