I recently had some blood tests done and was told that I would get an account for $50 for one of them.
Since when has Medicare not covered pathology?
I haven’t seen any reference to any charges for tests.
It makes me wonder what other sneaky charges are happening – why hasn’t Medicare contacted everyone and advised them that there will now be charges for testing that has always been covered by Medicare. The same thing happened to a friend who received an account for $20 for a pathology test.
These tests are necessary or the GP wouldn’t order them.
Naturally I had the test, but how would a family cope with the added cost if they had a sick child who needed frequent, multiple blood tests and they were suddenly hit with an account they hadn’t been expecting?
