A 29-year-old man has been charged in relation to a number of alleged assault incidents at a New Year’s Eve party at a Jacks Creek address.

The incidents allegedly took place from 10pm on December 31.

The man allegedly grabbed a female victim and bit her on the chin, with the laceration bleeding freely and causing pain. The woman was treated at Narrabri Hospital.

An attendee attempted to intervene and was punched.

Another victim was also allegedly attacked.

When police arrived at the scene, the man violently resisted arrest. Police will allege that the man kicked an officer in the face.

Once taken to Narrabri Police Station, the man ripped up a mattress.

The man was charged with reckless wounding, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault, assault police, resist police and malicious damage.

Bail was refused to appear at Gunnedah Local Court on February 3.

Man arrested for alleged grass fire

A 44-year-old man was arrested after allegedly setting grassland on fire near Namoi Street, Narrabri, after 10pm on January 13.

Firefighters attended the scene to extinguish the blaze.

The man was charged with light fire, land clearance fire/break without notice and cause or set fire to the property of another.

He was also reported for breach of bail, shoplifting and trespass. It followed reports of an incident in a Maitland Street retail store earlier that day.

Bail was initially refused by police to appear in Division 5 Bail Court, however, he was later granted conditional bail after appearing in court.

Investigation into fuel card theft and use

A 20-year-old woman was issued with a future court attendance notice following police investigation into alleged fraud.

Police allege the woman stole and used a fuel card last year in a number of instances.

She was charged with two counts of dishonestly obtain financial advantage and two counts of deal with identity information to commit indictable offence.

Drink driver stopped on Wee Waa Road

A 24-year-old woman had her license suspended following a drink-driving detection at 9pm on December 29.

Police stopped the woman driving on Wee Waa Road, Narrabri, where she returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.093.

Man charged for damaging vehicles on Dangar Street

A 44-year-old man was charged in relation to alleged incidents of damage to passing vehicles on Dangar Street.

At 9.12pm on December 30, the man was reported as standing in the middle of the road and threw a metal pole towards a vehicle.

At 9.20pm, the man ran to a pedestrian crossing in the middle of Dangar Street and struck a car with the metal pole.

Another incident occurred at 9.25pm when the man was standing on a footpath a damaged a vehicle by throwing the metal pole.

Police were contacted and arrived at the scene.

Police allege the man was still holding the metal pole and damaged a police vehicle.

After fleeing, a chase ensued and the man was apprehended.

He was charged in relation to all of the above matters and granted conditional bail in Division 5 Bail Court.

Drink driver stopped on Tibbereena Street

A 57-year-old woman had her license suspended following a drink-driving detection at 11.59pm on December 29.

Police stopped the woman on Tibbereena Street, Narrabri, where she returned a blood alcohol reading of .140.

Woman charged for theft of bicycle

A 40-year-old woman was recently charged for the alleged theft of a bicycle from a Queen Elizabeth Avenue address on December 7.

The woman was captured by CCTV entering the rear of the premises and stealing a bicycle.

The bicycle was later recovered.

The woman was issued with a future court attendance notice for the Narrabri Local Court, on February 24, charged with take and drive conveyance without consent.

Man arrested for Boggabri incidents

A 44-year-old man was charged in relation to incidents in Boggabri in the evening of December 27.

The man allegedly made threats to someone while in Merton Street.

Police allege he then later attended the person’s residence and started yelling.

He was charged with common assault, stalk/intimidation and entering enclosed lands.

Bail was refused and the man entered a guilty plea in court.

He was issued with a community corrections order for two offences, and a Section 10 for another offence.

Alleged vehicle incident in Wee Waa

Police arrested an 18-year-old man in Wee Waa following an alleged vehicle incident.

Police were patrolling Rose Street on January 1 and stopped a white sedan being driven without number plates.

The driver fled police, continuing down Rose Street and later through a stop sign and on to Mitchell Street.

Police later observed the vehicle abandoned and it was seized.

The man was issued with a future court attendance notice for learner unaccompanied, negligent driving, not stopping at a stop sign, use uninsured vehicle and use unregistered vehicle.
