More than 700 homes and businesses in the Narrabri Shire local government area will soon be eligible for nbn fixed wireless under the NSW government’s Regional Digital Connectivity Program.
The state government has contracted nbn to deliver fast and reliable nbn fixed wireless internet connectivity for homes and businesses in parts of regional NSW, including surrounding areas of Narrabri, Narrabri East, Yarrie Lake, Drildool and Wee Waa.
nbn’s delivery partner, Ventia, is in the area undertaking works, including the installation of five new fixed wireless towers. The work will continue throughout the remainder of the year.
An nbn fixed wireless service can enable access to a faster, more reliable nbn broadband service, delivering a range of benefits, including smoother, higher-resolution video calls, enhanced streaming, faster downloads, and the ability to connect more devices simultaneously.
With an nbn fixed wireless connection, the nbn broadband signal travels from the transmission tower using 4G technology and 5G mmWave technology to an antenna installed on your roof, helping to deliver more coverage, minimise congestion, and offer access to speeds of up to 250Mbps.
Head of nbn Local NSW Tom O’Dea said Australians deserve access to fast, effective broadband, regardless of whether they live in a major city or on the outskirts of a country town.
“The nbn Fixed Wireless network is a critical part of our infrastructure, supporting regional Australian homes and businesses with faster speeds and more reliable connectivity than ever before, even during the busiest times,” he said.
Free connectivity information sessions will be held in Narrabri at One23 Cafe, 12-3pm, February 9, Yield Cafe, 9am-1pm, February 10, Narrabri Library, 2-4pm, February 10 and Yield Cafe, 9am-12pm, February 11.
