Numbers increased and the quality of the yarding was good at Tuesday’s sale in Gunnedah.
There were plenty of feeders with the bulk falling in to the heavy feeder categories and lines of lighter weaners and calves.
Trade cattle were in reasonable numbers, but prime and heavy grown steers and heifers were in short supply.
There was a good run of cows with most having plenty of weight and yield.
Young cattle to restockers and feeders were firm but prime grown steers and heifers were softer. Cows also sold to weaker trend.
Most of the weaner steers returning to the paddock sold from 450c to 532c and the heifers 330c to 390c/kg.
Feeder steers ranged between 410c to 490c, and 2 pens sold to 520c/kg for just over 300kg in weight.
Heifers to feed on ranged from 368c to 442c/kg. Heavy trade cattle ranged from 380c to 438c/kg.
The limited supply of prime grown steers ranged from 400c to 452c, and the heavy grown heifers received 390c to 438c/kg.
Cows lost 5c with the prime heavy weights selling from 364c to 388c and the lighter 2 and 3 score cows 336c to 368c/kg. The best price for a heavy bull reached 390c/kg.
