From March 3-29, 2026, Gunnedah is set to come alive with the roar of engines, the shine of polished chrome, and the unmistakable spirit of country camaraderie as the Weeks of Speed Festival returns for another action–packed celebration. Each year, this much–loved festival brings together motoring enthusiasts, families, local businesses, and visitors from across the region—and 2026 will again be an opportunity to create lasting memories.

What makes Weeks of Speed so special is that it isn’t just an event—it’s an experience stitched into the fabric of our community. Over nearly four weeks, the festival transforms Gunnedah into a hub of horsepower and hometown pride, offering something for everyone: thrilling races, eye–catching displays, family activities, friendly competitions, and beloved traditions that have grown stronger with every passing year.

The Tractor Trek brings participating motoring worlds together in a uniquely Gunnedah way: tractors and racing cars will make a spectacular shared journey down Conadilly Street at 10:30am on Saturday, March 7, giving everyone a front–row seat to this rolling showcase of machinery, heritage, and pure fun.

The community can then go up close and personal to the tractors and racing cars at the Show ’n Shine at the Woolworths car park, where engines are polished, bonnets raised, and owners stand ready to share the stories behind their beloved machines. Whether you’re fascinated by old tractors restored with loving hands or dazzled by racing cars built for speed, the Show ’n Shine is a reminder of how motoring culture brings people together—across generations, interests, and backgrounds. And this year, the Soaring Club is taking the Show ‘n Shine to new heights by displaying a real life glider. This rare, up-close opportunity to see a glider on the ground – towering, elegant and engineered for silent flight adds an exciting aviation twist to the festival.

But the Weeks of Speed Festival is much more than a single procession or event. Throughout March, Gunnedah will play host to a calendar full of excitement: speedway racing, fishing and shooting competitions, billy boiling, rolling start half-mile sprint, mountain biking, horse racing, emergency services competitions and demonstrations at the Rural Museum. Local clubs and volunteers have poured countless hours into creating a festival that reflects not only our passion for motorsport, but our commitment to community spirit and regional pride.

Every spectator cheering from the stands, every business dressing their shopfront in festival colours, every volunteer checking tickets or flipping sausages—all help turn Weeks of Speed into something truly unforgettable. The festival, in its 29th year this year, gives the local economy a boost: accommodation fills up, cafés and pubs buzz with visitors, and the whole town benefits from the energy the festival brings.

This year’s schedule also gives locals plenty of opportunities to join in—whether by attending events, entering competitions, or simply showing up along the Conadilly Street route to cheer as the tractors and racing cars roll by. It’s a moment designed to unite us, celebrate our shared identity, and remind us that Gunnedah is at its best when we come together.

So mark your calendars. Tell your neighbours. Bring your family. And get ready to feel the rumble, the excitement, and the unmistakable pulse of community that only the Weeks of Speed Festival can deliver.

From March 3-29, Gunnedah is the place to be—and we can’t wait to see you trackside.
