The Stars of Narrabri is back again, with new local personalities ready to put their talent to the test to dance for cancer. This year’s cohort features business and community leaders who are ready for a night of fun while raising funds and awareness for the Cancer Council NSW.

Cailey Walker

Partnered by Sarah and Paige

“I’ve always enjoyed dancing — and blessing everyone at work with my ‘amazing’ karaoke skills (although they may strongly disagree!). It’s such a great release and helps boost endorphins, which does wonders for my mental health,” Cailey said.

Outside of work and fundraising, Cailey loves camping, sharing a drink with friends, and spending quality time with her family.

“I’m a big believer in community, connection, and always showing up for the people around you. I decided to take on the Stars of Narrabri challenge because it’s another meaningful way I can help support people who need it most,” Cailey said.

“Cancer affects so many individuals and families in our community, and being part of this event allows me to combine something I love dancing with raising funds for the incredible work of the Cancer Council NSW.

“Stepping onto that stage means stepping outside my comfort zone, but it also means stepping up for a cause that genuinely matters. If I can rally our community, push myself, and turn something I love into real support for others, then it’s absolutely worth it. This is my way of giving back, showing up, and making a difference.”

Lindsey Duncan

Partnered by Makenzie

Lindsey is a mum of two boys, a disability team leader at Summit Community Services and a tattoo enthusiast who loves adventure (especially motorbikes and the ocean).

“I wanted to do the Stars of Narrabri challenge this year to remember the many loved ones I have lost to various different cancers and this includes my dear friend’s Mum, Maureen Williams, who lost her life to brain cancer. I will be dancing for her and the many other family and friends that I hold dear to my heart!”

Grant Whiting

Partnered by Sarah

Grant is a dad, a husband, a coach. And not ever a dancer. He can add this to the list after the Stars of Narrabri.

“Being a Star this year was actually my wife’s [Kait] idea! She has done this event herself before, and she loved the idea of me jumping on stage,” Grant said.

“I signed up also because it’s a great cause that affects all of us in some way, and because I thought it would be a really great experience.”

Alexandra Conroy

Partnered by Xanthie

Alex is a mum of four. She grew up in Narrabri and works as a primary school teacher.

“I decided to take on Stars of Narrabri to give back to the community, getting out of my comfort zone to support the people I love is the least I can do,” she said.

“Raising money for a cause that has affected so many people is so important.”

Jennifer Grant and Amanda Phillips

“We try to live by a philosophy of being kind, helping others and living life large. One of us is obsessed with mowing the lawn and the other will let the grass die in favour of a good book,” Jennifer and Amanda said.

“We have reached a stage in our lives where we are often considered a danger to ourselves and each other.

“Why did we get involved this year? Well…Apart from the fact that one of us threw the other under the bus, we’ve seen the enormous impact cancer has and wholeheartedly believe in a cancer-free future.

“Participating in this event is our way of helping achieve that goal.”

Megan Cameron and Cassidy Staines

Megan, born and raised in Narrabri, is the owner of a local gym alongside hubby Lachie, and daughter Cassidy. She has three children Cassidy, Ally and Nate.

“I love our community, how it gets behind people. I try to support as many things as possible. I was diagnosed with cancer in January 2025, last year was a huge year of treatment and travel,” Megan said.

“Lots of time away from home and my kids. I was lucky enough to stay in Inala House during my radiation in Tamworth.

“So I wanted to give back, help raise funds and awareness, and have some fun on the dance floor with my daughter. She was my rock at home keeping everything going while Lachie and I were away … I am forever grateful to everyone for all the support I had.”

Cassidy has always lived in Narrabri and works at her family-owned and operated gym. She loves sport and fitness but won’t ever say no to a sweet treat or cheeky cocktail!

“I decided to participate in Stars of Narrabri after my mum got the call-up and she asked me to join her.

“It was an instant yes after she was diagnosed with a triple-positive breast cancer last year.

“Her diagnosis really hit me hard, and it was quite a scary thought knowing your mum is sick and may be taken away from you sooner than ever imagined.

“If it wasn’t for the amazing team from Moree, Narrabri and Tamworth she wouldn’t have been able to receive treatment and also stay close to home near myself and my two younger siblings.

“We’re so grateful for the Cancer Council and their ongoing support to locals.”

Khyle Aldridge

Performing with Xanthie

Khyle is a born and bred local Narrabri boy, tradie and family man.

“Married to my extremely patient partner in crime Amy, together we have (mainly Amy) raised two kids Tyler (11) and Hayley (7) who are both active in our community,” Khyle said.

“I enjoy helping people out where I can with my trade skills, fishing and camping, and nothing compares to a cold beer with family and mates. My daughter dances (and is dancing at this event as well). She was the push behind me getting up and shaking a leg.

“But the driving force beyond that is cancer has affected so many people within our own families. Why wouldn’t I jump up on stage, raise some coin and give everyone a laugh.

“My wife and I have lost a grandparent to cancer; Ruth Rose (Amy’s ma), Dal Carmichael (my pop). With my nan Heather Aldridge currently battling pancreatic cancer, and to our extended friends and family who have lost their battle or been affected by cancer … I’ve cracked out the dancing shoes just for you.”

Morgan Jones

Partnered by Sarah, Paige, Kim and Kristy

Morgan Jones is a local business owner who is passionate about hospitality and bringing people together.

Morgan is heavily involved with the Narrabri Rugby Club as both an assistant-coach, committee member, and semi-retired player.

He and his wife Angie juggle business, community commitments and raising their two boys, which makes learning a dance routine an interesting new challenge.

Morgan has stepped well outside his comfort zone to take part in the Dance for Cancer. He believes in backing initiatives that support regional families and is proud to help raise funds for the vital services the Cancer Council provides across the North West.

Morgan is ready to swap footy boots for dancing shoes and raise as much as he can for a great cause.

Kristie Toomey

Partnered by Sarah

Kristie is a Narrabri local who is passionate about helping her community fight for a cancer-free future.

Kristie wanted to get involved in Stars of Narrabri this year to be part of helping a great cause, but also to get out of her comfort zone and really challenge herself to do something different.

Dancing towards a cancer-free future

This year’s Stars of Narrabri will be held at The Crossing Theatre on Saturday, March 28.

The evening will consist of dancing, food, raffles, auctions and spectacular entertainment all in the name of working towards a cancer-free future.

With one in two Australians diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85, the money raised from this event will go towards Cancer Council NSW and their world-class cancer research, prevention programs, advocacy, and support services to help those affected by cancer at every point in their journey.

If you would like to find out about how Cancer Council NSW put the money to work or access their support services, please contact the Tamworth office on 6763 0905.
