Narrabri can expect a night of sheer musical joy when the Clarence Valley Orchestra and acclaimed soprano Mirusia Louwerse come to town as part of the Outback Pops 2026 tour.

The 40-piece orchestra, accompanied by vocalists, will wow The Crossing Theatre crowd with a musical medley to suit all ages as part of a fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Narrabri on Wednesday, April 8, from 7pm.

Conductor Greg Butcher told The Courier the group was eager to venture to Narrabri and outback for its latest tour.

Among the score to be performed on the night is a Cole Porter medley, pieces from West Side Story and Sister Act as well as some Blue Hills rhapsody from the iconic 1950s and 60s radio show.

“There’s a bit of music for everyone,” Mr Butcher said.

The Clarence Valley Orchestra is made up of musicians from a variety of ages and backgrounds.

Last year, they completed a tour of Europe including Italy, Slovenia and Austria. This year’s tour is closer to home, taking in the New England, North West and outback regions.

Accompanying the orchestra on the tour is Mirusia, a soprano who has toured with Dutch violinist and conductor Andre Rieu.

Mirusia has toured internationally as well as featuring in musical theatre. She is also known for her performances at major Australian events.

Among Mirusia’s items at the Narrabri performance will be Ave Maria and a crowd favourite, I Still Call Australia Home.

While it is a night of entertainment for the Narrabri and North West crowd, the event will also serve as an important fundraiser for a great local cause.

The Rotary Club of Narrabri will soon enter its 80th year of service and has contributed significant projects across the community during its history.

Through the funds raised by the club, it also regularly contributes to local charities and organisations including the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service, Narrabri Meals on Wheels, local school P&Cs, Country Education Foundation of the Namoi, Shared Table, and more.

The club has consistently served as a supporter of local students who pursue extracurricular activities through both Rotary and non-Rotary education initiatives.

At a broader scale, the Rotary Club of Narrabri has supported flood, bushfire and drought appeals, including its own Neighbours in Need initiative during the last major drought in the area.

Rotary causes including Rotary Polio Plus, the Ukraine Crisis Appeal, Australia Rotary Health, Rotarians Against Malaria, the Rotary Foundation and the Rotary Men’s Health Education Rural Van have all been supported through funds raised by the Narrabri club.

The club hopes the proceeds raised from next month’s orchestra evening will support its ongoing fundraising and projects for local causes.
Tickets to the event are available to purchase through The Crossing Theatre, with adults costing $40 and children (under 16) $10.
