The Rotary Club of Narrabri will receive concessional use of The Crossing Theatre to enable the organisation to stage its annual Science and Engineering Challenge.
The challenge is a signature project of Rotary and attracts hundreds of students from across the North West region. It requires a great
deal of planning and volunteer hours to proceed.
The yearly initiative encourages students to exercise their science, technology, engineering and math skills by taking part in a series of fun and practical experiments.
“This challenge is the largest extracurricular STEM event held for schools in the North West,” the business paper from last week’s council meeting states.
The science and engineering challenge is a nationwide STEM outreach program presented by the University of Newcastle in partnership with communities, Rotary clubs, universities and sponsors.
This year’s event will be held from Tuesday, June 23 to Thursday, June 25.
Narrabri Rotary Club members will again cook up their famous barbecue lunch for the students, to ensure they don’t have to think and create on an empty stomach.
