RALLYING funds for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service (WRHS) is a cause close to the hearts of many locals, with most community members having some experience with the vital lifeline.
On Sunday, the dedicated members of the Wee Waa WRHS Volunteer Support Group hosted the High Tea on the Green fundraiser at the golf club, drawing a cheerful crowd for a relaxing and fun afternoon.
Guests enjoyed delicious homemade sandwiches and slices while catching up over a cup of tea or a glass of bubbles.
The atmosphere was light and social, but the purpose behind the gathering was deeply meaningful.
By the end of the afternoon, the event had raised $2,272.40 for the WRHS as the support group thanked businesses and guests for their kind contributions and donations.
Attendees reflected on the crucial role WRHS plays in our region, whether they have relied on the service personally or called on it to assist a loved one.
In the first quarter of 2026, January to March, WRHS responded to 404 missions across Northern NSW from its three operational bases in Tamworth, Belmont and Lismore, with 116 of those missions tasked from the Tamworth base.
