Council community grants program open for applications

NARRABRI Shire community groups are being encouraged to apply for funding through round one of

Narrabri Shire Council’s 2026/27 Community Financial Assistance (CFA) Grant Program, with applications now open.

The annual program provides financial support for projects, programs and events aimed at strengthening community connections, improving wellbeing and enhancing the social and cultural life of the Narrabri Shire.

Eligible school P&C and P&F committees, preschools, education facilities and registered training organisations can apply for grants of up to $500, while eligible community organisations can seek up to $3000, with funding allocated on a pro-rata basis according to participation.

Narrabri Shire mayor Darrell Tiemens said the program recognised the important role community organisations played across the region.

“Our local community groups play an essential role in bringing people together and creating opportunities across the Shire,” Cr Tiemens said.

“The Community Financial Assistance program is designed to support the incredible work these organisations do by helping turn great ideas into projects and events that benefit our communities.”

To help applicants prepare their submissions, council will host two free online application tutorials, offering a step-by-step guide to the application process and an opportunity for participants to ask questions about their proposed projects.

Applicants are also encouraged to contact the council’s grants team for assistance in developing stronger applications.

“We want to ensure everyone has the opportunity to submit quality applications for council to consider,” said Cr Tiemens.

“We are fortunate to have a very skilled and experience grants team who are available to assist our community with this.”

Applications close on Tuesday, August 4, with successful applicants expected to receive funding in late October.

People can register for an online application tutorial via the council’s online registration form, while program guidelines, eligibility criteria and application information are available on the Narrabri Shire Council website.

Council said a second funding round may not be offered, depending on the outcomes of round one.
