This term marked Wee Waa High School’s first Sista Speak sessions for year 9 and 10 female students.
Throughout the program, students will build confidence and self-esteem, strengthen their connection to culture, and develop valuable life skills in a safe and supportive environment.
The introductory session explored the theme of identity, and the group was honoured to welcome respected community Elder Aunty Colleen Combo as the guest speaker.
Aunty Colleen generously shared her experiences as an Aboriginal woman, reflected on growing up in the local community, and spoke about what identity means to her.
Her stories inspired students to reflect on the many aspects that make up their own unique identities.
To conclude the session, Ella Korach delivered a heartfelt thank you to Aunty Colleen, presenting her with a thoughtful gift in appreciation of her time, wisdom and generosity.
