The singles competition at Narrabri Bowling Club continued over Thursday 24 September and Saturday 26 September, with some close contests across both the men’s and ladies’ sections.
In the men’s competition on the Thursday, Stuart Coleman recorded a 25–10 victory over Bruce Tomlinson, while Steve Daskey defeated Tony Redman 25–13.
Saturday saw Kevin Baguley progress with a 25–7 win over Keith Stoltenberg.
The ladies’ singles produced some particularly tight competition.
On the Thursday, Cindy Neil edged out Marie Redman 25–23 after a closely fought game played over 32 ends. Lorraine Scott also advanced with a 25–7 win over Helen Woodward.
Saturday’s matches saw Debbie Gleeson defeat Glennis Godden 25–20, while Eva Sadler prevailed over Lisa Pillar 25–23 in another 32-end battle.
The ladies’ semi-finals were held on Thursday 1 October, and Lorraine Scott took on Eva Sadler, with Helen Woodward as marker.
On Saturday 10 October, Cindy Neil will meet Debbie Gleeson, with Marie Redman marking the match.
The men’s semi-finals will be played on Saturday 10 October, from 1pm.
Kevin Baguley will face Steve Daskey with Tony Redman as marker, while Stuart Coleman will play Peter Small with Dave Dewar marking.
Social bowls were also played on the Thursday, with Glennis Godden and David Briggs defeating Rhonda Fitzgerald and Colin Armstrong 24–13. Dee Fletcher and Lyn Tuckey recorded a 15–10 win over Yvonne Hardman and Doug Mackereth.
The club’s mixed pairs carnival was held on Saturday October 3.
With the singles competition reaching the semi-final stage, members and spectators can look forward to another round of competitive bowls at Narrabri Bowling Club over the coming weeks.
