Rotary book sale raising vital funds towards new hospital SOZO machine

The Rotary Club of Narrabri’s fundraising book sale has so far been an outstanding success and has raised almost $20,000. This year, the organisation has earmarked some of the funds from the pop-up book shop to go towards the purchase of a SOZO machine for Narrabri District Health Service. Breast cancer survivor and past club president Karen Kirkby has been a lead instigator in having the equipment reinstated locally. The machine is a non-invasive medical device that uses bioimpedance spectroscopy (BIS) to measure fluid status and body composition. Celebrating culture and community at St Andrew’s

Parishioners at St Andrew’s Church in Wee Waa celebrated Migrant and Immigrant Sunday on 4 October, embracing the many cultures and backgrounds represented within the local community. Parishioners were encouraged to wear traditional dress, while prayers and readings were presented in different languages throughout the Mass. Following the service, everyone gathered for a special brunch, sharing food representing their countries of heritage and celebrating the cultures that make up the Wee Waa community. It was a wonderful opportunity for parishioners to come together, share their traditions and celebrate the district’s diversity.

CREATE celebrated at Narrabri Art & Craft Society

Narrabri Art & Craft Society has joined in on the CREATE festival excitement. The society officially opened its exhibition titled Rhythm and Flow as part of the 2026 program. At the recent opening celebration, mayor Darrell Tiemens announced the prize winners. Narrabri artist Judy Nobilo was announced as the recipient of the Betty Berriman Prize for best exhibit. The judge praised Judy for her “amazing details, reflection and movement”. The judge also highlighted Judy’s ability to capture the life of nature in such detail. The proposed Narrabri gas project will remain a key part of the NSW government’s strategy to secure domestic gas supplies, with the state’s new gas statement outlining the role of local production in supporting manufacturing and the transition to a lower-emissions energy system.
