Lions Auxiliary unveils lawn cemetery seating project

The Narrabri Lions Auxiliary has celebrated its most recent addition to the community, with four benches installed at the Narrabri Lawn Cemetery. Cemetery visitors are now able to sit and reflect while visiting the graves of their loved ones. The Lions Auxiliary thanked its contributing partners and hopes to make the seating project an ongoing development if funds allow. Lions Auxiliary secretary Kerrie Haire thanked Santos, Narrabri Shire Council and Narrabri Lions Club for their contributions to the project. Santos contributed funds for almost three benches. Hunter New England health district public hearing postponed

A public hearing due to take place in Narrabri on Monday was postponed due to travel issues. The public hearing was being held as part of the inquiry looking at a proposal to split the Hunter New England Health District into two separate districts – Hunter Local Health District and the New England North West LHD. “Committee members and staff were unable to travel due to an aircraft mechanical issue,” said a statement on the Legislative Assembly’s social media page. “The rescheduled public hearing dates will be announced at a later date. Large-scale mock emergency exercise staged at airport

Narrabri’s emergency services have come together to test and refine their response capabilities with a large-scale mock emergency exercise at Narrabri Airport. The initiative was hosted through the Narrabri Shire Local Emergency Management Committee and was able to proceed thanks to funding received from the Premier’s Department used for a facilitator to coordinate the emergency. The mock incident, a 34-seat aircraft accident, saw local agencies collaborate on their response.
