Yellow Door set to receive grant funding boost

Member for Barwon Roy Butler has welcomed news that Wee Waa’s much-loved Yellow Door will be able to stay open for longer thanks to a grant funding boost. Mr Butler’s office announced the Wee Waa Community Arts and Cultural Centre (WWCACC) is set to receive just under $90,000 through the NSW government’s Local Priorities Stream 3, part of the Active Regional Communities Package, which provides grants to community organisations to expand activities that improve wellbeing and increase social or economic participation. “I thank the government for recognising the unique contribution the centre makes to Wee Waa by granting this funding,” […]

Narrabri businessowners Wayne and Maree Wheeler are grateful for the community’s support after almost a lifetime in business in Narrabri. The couple recently handed over the reins of their Francis street business to son and daughter-in-law Shane and Michelle. Wayne and Maree arrived in Narrabri in 1973 while Wayne had still been working at Dalgetys. Narrabri has marked the end of an era following the sale of the long-established Logan & Co, operating as Furniture Court and Beds R Us in more recent years, a mainstay on Maitland Street for more than a century. Generations of the Logan family have been involved in the furniture business, which traces its beginnings to the family’s arrival in Narrabri around 1890. Community rallies behind Piper

Wee Waa’s mighty community spirit has been on display as locals rally around the Maxwell family after Taylor and Stacey’s daughter, Piper, was diagnosed with a rare childhood cancer. Piper’s aunt, Essie Maxwell, described her five-year-old niece as an outgoing little social butterfly who loves spending time with her younger brother Laetyn and playing with her many cousins.
