NAAP students inspired by high-performancesport experience

The Narrabri Accelerated Athletes Program squad travelled from Narrabri to Sydney for an action-packed high-performance sporting experience, allowing Narrabri High School students to see first-hand what it takes to perform at the highest level. From touring the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles’ incredible facilities to a look behind the scenes at the NSWRL Centre of Excellence, watching the Panthers take on the Bulldogs at CommBank Stadium and experiencing the NSW Weightlifting State Championships, the NHS students were surrounded by elite athletes, coaches and sporting environments throughout the trip. CREATE ‘Opening Night’ tickets now on sale

Tickets are now on sale for the official opening of CREATE Festival 2026. People from across the North West are invited to celebrate the launch of the region’s premier arts and cultural festival on Friday 2 October. ‘Opening Night’ will be held at The Crossing Theatre and will launch two weeks of creativity, culture and community connection, with the festival continuing until 18 October. Energy Vault acquires land for Stoney Creek battery project

Energy Vault has completed the acquisition of the land underpinning the 125 MW/1 GWh Stoney Creek Battery Energy Storage System near Narrabri, marking a key milestone for the project. The US-listed energy infrastructure company said the land had previously been secured under an agreement for lease but is now owned by Energy Vault after receiving the required Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) approval. More than $1m invested in North West communities

From education and health services to local clubs and grassroots projects, Whitehaven is continuing to invest in the communities surrounding its North West NSW operations – and applications are now open for the next round of community funding. Whitehaven has provided about $1.6m to more than 200 community clubs and organisations across NSW and Queensland so far in the 2026 financial year through its community grants and partnerships.
