Narrabri Policing Survey findings released

A survey seeking local views on policing and law and order in Narrabri received 85 responses, with break and enter identified as a major concern among participants. Graffiti management discussed at council

Narrabri Shire Council has discussed graffiti management after an extensive report was tabled by senior management. The matter was one of the main points of discussion at the September council meeting and follows an earlier mayoral minute voicing concern about increased vandalism in the shire. Mayor Darrell Tiemens again took particular issue with recent graffiti. “It just drives me insane,” he told the meeting before asking general manager Eloise Chaplain to elaborate on the report. Local groups share in volunteer grants program

Almost 40 community and sporting organisations in the Parkes electorate have shared in $62,966 from a federal volunteer grants program. Member for Parkes Jamie Chaffey announced that 42 organisations had been successful in securing a 2025–26 Volunteer Grant. Local recipients include: First Narrabri West Scout Group ($1,200), Boggabri Drovers Campfire ($1,200), Gunnedah Athletics Club ($1,100), Rotary Club of Gunnedah West ($1,000), Gunnedah & District Soccer Association ($2,000), Gunnedah Touch Association ($2,000), Narrabri Jockey Club ($1,000), Narrabri Netball Association ($1,200), Piallaway Progress Association ($1,150) and Wee Waa & District Historical Society ($2,000). Community connects and celebrates

The Narrabri Local Aboriginal Land Council welcomed visitors for the first time to Tippereena, a newly established native food production area on the outskirts of town. Designed to showcase climate-smart agriculture techniques, the site was planted last year with over 800 native food, medicine and fibre plants. On 10 September, the community celebrated the site’s establishment by releasing native fish and yabbies into the dam, sharing a meal, and learning about the project’s past and future.
