Wee Waa High School came together on Thursday 10 September to mark R U OK? Day, with students and staff wearing yellow and bringing along a gold coin donation in support of mental health initiatives. Shire to seek funding approval for Wee Waa community park

DYLAN SMITH Narrabri Shire Council will seek the Department of Regional NSW’s approval to amend a funding agreement and enable the development of a community park on the corner of Rose and Church streets in Wee Waa. The council had originally received funding through round nine of Resources for Regions to develop a community centre at the former site of the Wee Waa NAB branch. The council previously reported that construction costs for such a facility would exceed the allocated funding. Matched Giving Campaign is back for Country Education Foundation of the Namoi

Country Education Foundation of the Namoi (CEFN) has announced that its Matched Giving Campaign for 2026 is back. The local community is now able donate with greater impact as all donations made in September and October are matched. Funds raised will go directly towards supporting local youth and help them break down barriers they face when accessing further education and training, such as financial pressures, distance and isolation. McDonald’s claim victory in14–17s grand final

McDonald’s claimed a 2–0 victory over Kamilaroi Carpet in the Narrabri Junior Soccer 14–17s grand final on Saturday. Jacob Teer opened the scoring to send McDonald’s into half-time 1–0 up, before Blake Stride found the net in the second half to make it 2–0. Runners-up Kamilaroi Carpet put in a big effort; with no subs on the bench, players worked incredibly hard, defended strongly and kept fighting right through to the final whistle. A great game from both teams and a fantastic way to finish the 14–17s season.
