Narrabri Touch’s 2024 season mixed competition resumed this week on Monday night following the Easter long weekend break, with the round eight matches played under lights at Hogan Oval and Leitch Oval.

The first seven rounds of the year were played at the Cooma Oval fields, however, the venue switch was made after daylight saving time ended on Sunday.

Just Gammin continued their run at the top of the table after scoring a 15-2 victory against last-placed side RSL Guys and Gals at Hogan Oval. They have now won all eight of their 2024 season matches a combined 90 to 31, and they boast a competition-best for and against difference of 59. They became the outright leaders for the first time after second-placed team Hammertime finally slipped up.

Hammertime went into round eight having won all seven of their previous encounters, but a 4-all draw against Win Or Booze at Leitch Oval saw them fall a point behind Just Gammin. That result was the first draw of the entire campaign, and it ensured Hammertime would finish the night still undefeated and in second spot.

The Sprayerbarn Spinouts were the best defensive side after seven rounds and the third-placed team took their Cooma Oval form over to Hogan Oval on Monday when they kept a clean sheet in an 11-0 victory against Touch ‘n’ Go. The Spinouts have still conceded 22 tries this season, which is nine less than the ladder leaders, and they are now just one point behind Hammertime on the ladder.

Two wins back are fourth-placed Tradies and Ladies and fifth-placed Banksia Babes and Blokes after they both scored round eight victories on Monday. Banskia Babes and Blokes outscored Kerrigans 10-2 and Tradies and Ladies defeated Wilga Pelicans 6-1, both at Hogan Oval. That loss saw the Pelicans drop from seventh on the ladder to eighth after the JWG Hounddogs downed One Hit Wonders 8-1 at Leitch Oval to climb from eighth up into seventh. Those were the only two changes in terms of ladder standings on the night.

The points tally after eight rounds of action so far is as follows:
Just Gammin (24), Hammertime (23), Sprayerbarn Spinouts (22), Tradies and Ladies (18), Banksia Babes and Blokes (18), Win Or Booze (17), JWG Hounddogs (16), Wilga Pelicans (14), One Hit Wonders (12), Kerrigans (10), Touch ‘n’ Go (10), RSL Guys and Gals (8).
