The recipient of one of Australia’s most generous annual scholarships has been announced.

Narrabri High School student Jacqueline Vona has been awarded the 2019 Auscott Scholarship which will provide $11,500 per year in financial support for the duration of her university course.

Jacqueline will attend the University of New England where she will study for a Bachelor of Education degree.

Jacqueline was chosen from nine applicants from the Narrabri and Wee Waa High Schools.

The award follows an interview process undertaken in September 2018 by a panel of representatives from the respective High Schools and Auscott.

The selection panel looks at a range of personal and academic criteria in choosing a scholarship recipient.

“Jacqueline impressed the panel with her mature outlook, determination to persevere against adversities, along with her dedication to her studies and chosen career path” an Auscott spokesperson said.

Jacqueline is the 53rd recipient from the Narrabri Shire to be awarded the Auscott Education Program Scholarship.

The scholarship is available to students who live in the Narrabri Shire and attend one of the local high schools.
