In its first season in the Narrabri District Cricket Association competition the Western imperial Razorbacks first XI has had quite a successful start.
The side entered the Christmas and New Year break on top of the 45-over competition ladder, a win ahead of RSL and the defending champs Tatts.
And now the side has excelled in the short format arena.
The Razorbacks played two matches on Saturday at Collins Park, Narrabri, in the third round of the NDCA first grade T20 season.
The side entered the round aware that wins in both matches would guarantee it a grand final berth.
The Razorbacks were only able to win one, which saw it finish on 16 points after two wins and two losses in the campaign.
RSL and Civeo also finished the regular season on 16 points, so the second grand final spot – to join Tatts who finished with three wins and a loss – came down to nett run rate.
The Razorbacks’ nett run rate was superior to that of both RSL and Civeo, so the Western Imperial men finished second to qualify for the grand final.
That match will be played at Collins Park under lights on Saturday February 2.
The Razorbacks’ matches on Saturday were against last-placed Crossroads Hotel and first-placed Tatts.
The Razorbacks defeated Crossroads with ease, downing them by seven wickets.
Two games in a day proved too much as the side ran out of steam and succumbed to a six-wicket loss against Tatts.
