The Narrabri District Cricket Association’s two representative sides have both qualified for their respective 2018-19 Northern Inland Cricket Council competition grand finals.

The NDCA first XI went down in the fifth and final round of the War Vets Cup in Armidale on Sunday.

The Pink Slugs fielded first after the hosts won the toss.

Narrabri was set 200 to chase after Armidale made 9-199 from its 50 overs.

The visitors were then bowled out for 152, falling 48 runs short of the required total.

That loss saw Narrabri earn a point which meant that it finished even on 14 points with Tamworth.

The Pink Slugs snuck into a grand final spot after finishing second with a superior net run rate to Tamworth.

Gunnedah finished first on the War Vets Cup ladder so will host defending champions Narrabri on February 24.

The NDCA second XI took on Glen Innes in one of two MA Connolly Cup semi-finals on Sunday.

At Glen Innes the Pink Slugs scored a nailbiting six-run victory.

The home side won the toss and sent the Pink Slugs into bat.

Narrabri finished with 6-192 from its 50 overs which was inspired by an unbeaten 105 to Justin Knight.

Glen Innes almost chased that down, reaching 9-186 midway through the 46th over.

However Narrabri’s Hamish Duncan took the winning wicket which saw Narrabri secure a grand final spot.

That match will be played in Tamworth against Tamworth Blue.

Tamworth Blue finished first on the Western Conference ladder while Narrabri finished second.

In its semi-final Tamworth Blue defeated Walcha to advance to the grand final.
