A packed Narrabri RSL auditorium at the Seniors Festival lunch applauded the announcement of veteran Scout leader Tom Kay as the 2019 Narrabri Shire Senior of the Year on Wednesday.
“Mr Kay was nominated for his devotion and commitment to Scouting in Narrabri” the mayor Cathy Redding said.
“Mr Kay has been a valued member of Scouts since 1990 as well as a Scouts District Leader for the past 28 years.
“Although Mr Kay no longer has family involved in the group he still dedicates most of his weekends to Scouting activities and helping local children to achieve milestones and Scouting badges.
“Mr Kay also spends a lot of his time helping to organise local events and attending Jamborees.
“His constant hard work will ensure Narrabri Scouts is available to future generations of Joeys and Cubs.”
