The Narrabri Bowling Club’s middle green was full on Friday night when the club’s Number Two Pennants side welcomed a team of Wee Waa bowlers to town for a trial match to kick off the men’s bowls season.

Each team played two matches of nine ends, a format which was designed to give all bowlers a chance to bowl against different opposition players during the match.

Narrabri won all matches except one on the evening.

The Friday night bowls match attracted a positive crowd which watched on from inside the club and at greenside.

That crowd included plenty of travelling Wee Waa supporters.

The Narrabri Bowling Club’s Number Two team will be in action again this Friday night in an intra-club trial game, as will the club’s Number Six team.

The Pennants season will officially begin on Saturday, March 9.

Narrabri will play on its home green against Lightning Ridge in both the Number Twos and Sixes that day at 1pm.

The following day Narrabri will take on Gunnedah in Twos and Collarenebri in Sixes in round two.

Both of those games will be played from 10.45am.

The Number Two division includes Narrabri, Lightning Ridge, Gunnedah and Inverell, while the Number Sixes is made up of Narrabri, Lightning Ridge, Collarenebri and Moree Services.
