Jenna received the prestigious award at a special ceremony at Narrabri Shire Council Chambers on Sunday for her charitable activities and academic achievement.

The Lillian Hulbert Memorial Prize was first awarded in 2008.

The prize, established in 2007 by Thomas Whipp Hulbert in memory of his mother, Lillian Alice Hulbert, is awarded annually and recognises young people between the ages of 15 and 18 years who have shown outstanding achievements through an act of bravery or heroism, charitable work in the Narrabri district, academic or sporting achievement.

There were six applicants. The $11,500 cash prize focuses on encouraging excellence and helping young people with their chosen career path.

“We had six very high quality applicants this year,” said Mayor Cathy Redding.

“They all showed excellence in their chosen fields being sporting, academic or charitable work.

“Jenna volunteers approximately 13 hours a week across a number of community activities and is the current Vice Captain at Narrabri High School.”
