The Swimming NSW Country Championships were held at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre from Friday, February 22, through to Sunday, February 24.

Four Narrabri swimmers travelled to take part at the event.

They were Harrison Bennett, Millie Collins, Toby Michell-Smith and Rosie Ross.

The 2019 event saw Millie and Rosie make their NSW Country Champs debuts.

In total the Narrabri swimmers had 15 entries at the championships.

Harrison swam in nine events, Millie one, Toby two and Rosie three.

Harrison set personal best times in all nine events, Millie set a personal best in her one event, Toby set personal bests in both of his events and Rosie set new personal bests in two of her three events.

12-year-old Harrison returned home with one gold and one bronze medal, and top 10 placements in all nine events.

He also finished the carnival having qualified for nine events at the NSW State Championships which will be held at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre next month.

Harrison swam in the men’s 12-years 100m backstroke final on Saturday and was victorious.

He swam a 1:11.88 to not only win the gold medal but to also shave more than three seconds off his personal best time.

The following day Harrison took part in the men’s 12-years-and-under butterfly final.

He swam a 2:37.21 in that event, shaving a huge 11.72 seconds off his personal best time while earning a bronze medal in the process.
