Narrabri Fire and Rescue is busy dealing with fires and much more in its normal weekly routine.

On March 3 the firefighters were called to a car fire in a block of flats in Delaney Avenue.

Crews arrived on scene to find a Holden Commodore utility with the engine compartment well alight parked inside the ground level
garage of a two storey residential unit complex.

“Firefighters immediately got to work with crews in breathing apparatus and hose lines to extinguish the fire and prevent fire extending from the garage into the top level of units,” reported Station Commander Shane Bradford.

“Ten occupants were evacuated as a precaution with three residents treated for smoke inhalation by firefighters prior to the arrival and handover to NSW Paramedics.

‘Two were later transported to hospital for further assessment.

“All units were required to be ventilated utilising a positive pressure fan and then tested using our atmospheric monitoring equipment to ensure the air quality was at a safe level to allow the residents to return.”
