More convenient access to study and support in their home district, is now a step closer for Narrabri external studies, university students.
On Friday, chair of the Country University Centre North West board, Narrabri mayor, Cathy Redding, cut the ribbon to signal the imminent start of the major refurbishment and fit out for the Narrabri CUC campus.
Students who enrol in external courses at any Australian university will have convenient and high tech local access through the new Centre.
The Centre will effectively be their local campus.
The interior of the original Narrabri Municipal Council offices, latterly the Neighbourhood Centre, will be completely gutted and equipped with state of the art study and communication facilities.
It will be the study hub for district students who will be able to undertake university courses across a wide spectrum of disciplines.
A ‘sister centre’ will be opened in Moree.
Students will use the Centre as a hub and focal point for their courses, with access to mentors and other assistance alongside computers, printers and support equipment.
“Internet speeds at CUC North West will be 500 times faster than the average speeds recorded in Narrabri”, CUC manager Cathy Walters said.
