Regional members of one of the state’s biggest and most successful volunteer organisations, the United Hospitals Auxiliaries of NSW, met for the auxiliaries’ New England Zone Conference in Narrabri on Friday.
The state president, Linda Swales, Batlow, was guest speaker.
Mrs Swales and delegates were welcomed by the mayor Cathy Redding and Narrabri Auxiliary president Sally Alexander.
There are 12 auxiliary zones across NSW and the New England zone embraces centres including Narrabri, Wee Waa and Boggabri and as far afield as Armidale to Collarenebri and Tenterfield to Tamworth.
The state’s hospital auxiliaries form one of the biggest and most successful volunteer organisations in NSW with 5,450 members in 190 branches who last year raised more than $11 million and contributed $5.171 million to their local hospitals.
Narrabri is recognised as one of the largest auxiliary branches in country NSW with more than 70 member.
“The Narrabri conference was one of the biggest I have been to recently,” said Mrs Swales.
