Narrabri’s Lauren Nott will lead Central North onto the park at this weekend’s Women’s Rugby Sevens NSW Country Championships tournament after being named as the squad’s captain this week.

The team was announced on Sunday with Nott getting the nod to lead a team which will include Narrabri Blue Boars duo Chelsea Hancock and Daisy Robinson.

The Country Champs will be held in Armidale on Saturday and Sunday.

Each team will play three matches on Saturday against the sides in their respective pools, before contesting finals matches on Sunday.

Nott, who will make her third NSW Country Champs tournament appearance in three seasons this weekend, has gone from strength to strength since taking up the sport two years ago.

In just her second season in the sport in 2018 she played on one of the biggest stages of Australian women’s sevens when she represented University of New

England at all five of the AON Uni Sevens national tournament weekends.

The 21-year-old told The Courier that the Aon appearances were her greatest achievements in the sport, but being selected as the Central North captain was one of her proudest moments.

“It’s a pretty big honour,” Nott said.
